I Heart Faces Photo Challenge | Yellow

I stumbled across I Heart Faces blog not too long ago and find it so insightful. As a newbie learning how to use my DSLR, this blog offers great tutorials, resources, and inspiration!

The blog has a weekly challenge and this week's theme is Yellow.

I thought this picture was perfect for the entry ~ Ella Grace, in her Princess Belle dress, loving her first time on the teacups ride at Disneyland. She picked out the yellow teacup herself:)

9 Pairs at a Time....

"Pairs of what?" you say....

That would be the # of pairs of underwear Ella Grace feels she needs to wear at one time. We haven't pushed potty training at all. Before last night, I don't think Ella had even sat on her potty in about a month. But, she sat down herself and tee teed in the potty! Lots of "yays!" and high fives which then led me to ask her if she wanted me to take her to Target to pick out big girl underwater. Of course, the answer was yes. So, today we strolled down the little kids "character" aisle looking for Princess panties. We found a set of 7 and Ella also picked out another set of 7 that included Nemo, Toys Story, and Cars characters.

We went home and put on the Nemo underwear - no diaper, no pull-ups. As I was upstairs I hear her saying "poopie" so I hurried downstairs. She didn't do that but definitely peed in her pants. She immediately declared she wanted to wear pull-ups

Anyway, her new underwear have been by her side all day. We caught her putting on almost every pair. I believe Brian counted 9 in total.

A Different View...

Through my new lens. I received a 50mm f/1.8D lens for Mother's Day. Yes, I picked this lens out. No, I did not do enough research to know it did not have auto focus. I shoot 99.9% in Manual mode these days but still use auto focus. Just too much to juggle as I learn and develop my skills. But, I've decided to take the challenge and learn how to manual focus.

So, here are a few I took while playing around this weekend.

Relax

I'm sitting on the couch identifying the Anthro items I feel I need in case there is a red tag sale this month and I hear Ella Grace saying something over and over to her penguin stuff animal. I realize what she's saying is...."relax, relax, relax." I started giggling. I'm sure this is what her teachers say to her because she is going through a phase of tantrums so incredible to watch I actually started laughing at her tonight.

A couple of other things we've caught her saying -

"my back hurts" - she's starting to copy what her momma says as I am constantly telling her I can't hold her because my back hurts. She said this in front of two 60+ year old woman while waiting in line for our flight on Sunday. They thought it was hilarious!

"poor mommy" - her response when I got a paper cut.

"mommy, go to work" - as she led me out of her classroom on Monday.

"daddy, go to work" - as he sat on the classroom couch reading books with her and she decided it was time for him to leave.

"we're not watching basketball, we're watching Nemo" - when Brian turned on the Grizzlies game tonight.

I'm sure there are more but that's all I can think of for now.

The Most Magical Place on Earth

Ella Grace's birthday present from us was a trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. We had so much fun!!

We arrived Thursday and swam and enjoyed Cinco de Mayo with margaritas for the adults and apple tinis for Ella (apple juice - one of the waitors called her juice this and I thought it was cute).

Friday, we headed to Disneyland and we will just say that Ella was pretty much no fun. She has 2 molars coming in and the only time she was happy was the 5 or so minutes we were on a ride. She screamed and cried in every single line we stood in and for those of you who have been to Disney parks, the lines are about 30 minutes long. So just imagine. That day was short lived but we did rides such as Buzz Lightyear, Nemo's submarine adventure, a carousel, and Dumbo. We left early afternoon and opted to stay at the hotel the rest of the day and order in pizza for dinner.

Saturday was MUCH better! After a dose of Tylenol, we started our morning with a Disney Princess breakfast at Ariel's Grotto in California Adventure Park. It was quite the experience (and there are some crazy parents!). Now, I know why adults say to drink mimosas. It was cute though and Ella loved it! She walked down the spiral staircase and had her picture taken with Ariel. We didn't know if she would do it but she ran up and gave her two big hugs! Breakfast was served family style and was really good. Ella met Cinderella, Snow White, Princess Minnie, and her favorite, Belle. She warmed up more and more as each character came by asking her if she wanted a picture.

We then headed back to Disneyland and enjoyed a day full of rides. We hit up Winnie the Pooh, It's A Small World, the carousel again, the Disneyland railroad choo choo train, and Mad Hatter teacups. Miss Priss had so much fun she passed out at about 2:30 so we didn't go to the Tinkerbell or Peter Pan rides we had planned on riding. We walked around while she slept and then went to ESPN Zone to watch the Grizzlies game. Later, we headed back to Downtown Disney, walked around, listened to bands and watched people dancing. Ella wanted popcorn so we found a kettle corn stand and she was in heaven! We had to pull the bag away from her at dinner (we ate at Rainforest Cafe).

Did I mention that the World Premiere of The Pirates of the Carribean On Stranger Tides was at Disneyland Saturday? They closed the park early for it. Main Street (the entry to Disneyland) was completely blocked off so you can imagine the chaos as we all had 1 lane on either side of the street to travel on. Don't get me wrong - the set-up was pretty cool! But, people camping out from the wee hours of the morning until the evening premiere was insane! There were Johnny Depp look alikes everywhere! When we were headed out later in the day, the crowds were growing and interviews beginning. It was neat to see all the media outlets there from E! to Insider Edition.

In no particular order...

Putting her "litick" on
How she acted all of Saturday

She loved Nemo! We were in this tiny submarine and she yelled "Neeeemo! Hi Nemo!"

Mad Hatter Teacups. She loved it!

It's A Small World...this looked different and bigger than the Disneyworld version. No?

Mickey's Toon Town - cute atmosphere

Goofy's house

Why does she never want to take a picture with me??

The castle was sooo much smaller than the Disneyworld version.
