Go VOLS Go!

Ella Grace cheering on our VOLS in her Halloween PJ's!

Happy Halloween!

I took Ella Grace to the park today - she loved eating leaves and trying out the swing for the first time! No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get a shot without leaves in her mouth. She didn't want to smile either!

Weird lighting but the only pic we took together

Earlier in the day before the park - passed out!

Pre-Halloween Pic

Today, Ella Grace also had her Halloween party at school. Most of the infants left before the party started so I can't say it was eventful. However, it was fun to walk around to the other rooms (the school goes up to Pre-K) and see the other children in their cute costumes. We stayed for a little while then headed out to dinner. It must have been Halloween night for our neighborhood because kids were everywhere trick-or-treating their way through all of the stores and restaurants. We saw some great costumes! Anyway, below is a picture taken of Ella Grace at school. We'll get more tomorrow. Our pumpkin is passed out!

6 Month Check-up

Today, Ella Grace had her 6 month well check. Below are her updated vs. 4 month stats:

Head Circumference: 44.1 cm (42.4) - 90th percentile
Height: 26 1/2 in. (24 1/2) - 70th percentile
Weight: 16 lbs 10.5 oz (14.6) - 60th percentile

She wasn't as cooperative today. I think Dr. Spector's scruffy look frightened her! She also had 7 vaccinations. Some were combos but she still had 4 shots (2 in each thigh) and 1 oral. One of the shots was her first round of the flu shot. She goes back in a month to get the second round and possibly the H1N1 shot, if available. Poor baby! She did cry for a little while but became her calm, sweet self shortly after.

We have ourselves a healthy baby girl!

Fun Day at Park

Today, my friend Suzanne (who delivered Ms. Ella Grace) and I went to a butt kicking ski conditioning class (I don't ski; just go for the torture!) and then met up with our dogs and for her to see Ella again. I didn't take any pictures of us at the park but we had fun! Below is a picture of Ella Grace in her new coat...our little eskimo baby! You should have seen her in the Baby Bjorn. She was stuffed in there and loved every minute of being outside!

Awesome Game. Adorable Cheerleader.

Yeah, we should've won the game...if we hadn't missed 3 field goal kicks! But, to only lose by 2 to #1 team Alabama isn't bad, and it was a fun game to watch. Ella Grace even cheered on the VOLS!

Look at those toofers!

Go, Go, Go!!

Me or B?

Wednesday night, I came home to Brian watching the montage played at our rehearsal dinner. He was sure Ella Grace looked like me as a baby and needed to find some pictures to prove it. Still so sure, last night he played it again and took several pictures of the pictures on the TV screen, haha!

What do you think?

I have no clue...

Purses, Shoes, and so much more

Yes, she's already getting into purses and shoes:) Oh, and by the way, she has another pearly white working its way in!

Looking cute in an outfit Uncle Bob and Aunt Louise gave her.

Trying on the cheerleading uniform Aunt Emily gave her. Can you believe this is a size 18 month outfit? She has maybe a half inch on either end. The length is more than good though! Either way, she looks adorable and official!

News Flash

So I mentioned in Ella's 6 month blog post that she can't roll - not true. She's always been able to roll from her back to side then stomach but this week, things changed. She's a rolly polly! The other night, Brian put her to bed on her back and when he checked on her, she was perpendicular to how she normally sleeps. Then she decided she wanted to be on her stomach...then in the push-up position, and finally, back to her normal sleeping position but on her side. Sleeping on her side is her new thing. Below is a picture I took of her at 7:30 a.m. when I needed to be half way to dropping her off at school. She LOVES to sleep and has caused me to be late to work all week. In fact, she slept 12 hours and 15 minutes this night. Not normal!

Weekend of New Things

We tried several new things this weekend - eating from a highchair, trying green beans, sporting a new do, falling in love with her teddy bear, testing out shoes, and me carving my first "creative" pumpkin. We captured a few of those moments. See below.

Enlarge the picture, look REALLY close, and you'll see Ella Grace's first tooth!

Green beans are...okay.

She loves being naked.

Her new do - out with the cupie curl, in with the twig/sprout do.

First, I want you to check out the pumpkin. Do you realize how long it took me to do this? Just ask Brian. It was more of a "I have to complete what I started" instead of "this is fun!"

Second, check out Ella Grace's shoes. Let's just say her feet are a bit chubby for them. I was sweating trying to get them on her. Length wasn't an issue; just the chubs! I believe these were my cousin, Jeanne's shoes, and Ella will have to get hers in size WIDE when we go home. Poor baby!

So cute!

In love with her bear Juli, Andy, and Jeanne gave her. And tired of me taking pictures.

Trying out yet another pair of shoes.

They feel good!

Ella Grace is Half a Year Old!

Ella Grace is a big girl! She's 6 months old today and cuter than ever!

What's new?
  • She's now eating oatmeal - she loves it! I don't even have to bring the spoon to her; she comes to it! She also knows how to open her mouth really big when she's ready for another bite. It's so cute!
  • In the push-up position, she scoots around in circles and moves backwards; at school, the teachers say she's scooted herself backwards about 10 ft! We'll have a crawler sooner than later.
  • She has her first pearly white and another on its way! A little fussy (about 3 times) and next thing we knew, a sharp little toofer was on its way in.
  • She figured out how to make her "indian call." If you haven't seen the video, you can see it here.
  • She's sitting up completely on her own now. We still put a Boppy behind her so we can get things done without having to be right beside her at all times.
Pumpkins!

More Fun Facts:
  • She's still in size 2 diapers.
  • She's still drinking about 24 oz. of formula/day + oatmeal twice/day.
  • Most of the brands of clothes she wears run small and we're already growing out of 9 month old clothes and 12 month old ones are getting snug!
  • She's always been vocal, but she's extremely vocal now! Her friend Spencer taught her how to growl like a monster. It's quite an impressive noise.
  • She giggles at EVERYTHING! I didn't know we were so funny.
  • She's one of the older babies in her class - her best buds are Wesley and Spencer, both 2-3 months older than her. The other 3 are 3-4 months old.
  • Mom sent her some braces rubber bands and I gave her a "sprig" hair-do tonight. Her hair is too long to do the cupie curl anymore so looks like we're moving on to the sprig.
  • This weekend, I think we're going to try giving her baby food. I guess we'll start with a veggie.
  • I think it's time to break out the Britax convertible car seat. She looks like a linebacker in her bucket seat. I'm going to test out the new one this weekend.

At school she's:
  • Learning "more" and "milk" in sign language
  • How to scoot/crawl
  • How to roll (we still don't know how to do that)
  • How to hold her bottle
  • How to drink out of a sippy cup
The teachers really work with the kids. It's actually amazing what she's learned in the 6 weeks she's been there. They taught her how to sit in like 2 weeks.

Bad picture but cute outfit. We'll have to get a better picture next time.

What's coming up?
  • 6 month well-check on October 30th
  • Her Halloween party/parent pot luck at school on the 30th - even though the lion costume received the most votes, I'm going to look for a pumpkin outfit. The lion mane seemed a bit much to have to wear all day at school.
  • We plan to go to Vancouver and Victoria for my birthday so if all goes well, Ella Grace will make her first trip to B.C. in Nov (and us too!).
